We have been bombarded with news about the declining economy and the housing crises.  Statistics show that the average homeowner is struggling to pay their mortgage (or mortgages) while facing the possibility of foreclosure.  Many feel like they are stuck in a vast ocean of mortgage debt, struggling just to breath above water.  And the question is, where do you turn for help?

As a Veteran, the Veteran’s Association is here for you.  You may know that as a Veteran you receive many different benefits for health care, education, retirement, and spouses.  You may even know that you as a Veteran you qualify for mortgage and VA loan programs.  But did you also know that there is help for you if you are having problems with your mortgage?

The VA offers counseling services to Veterans facing foreclosure, regardless on if you used the VA home loan guaranty program or chose a different loan type all together.  Counselors are available at nine different regional loan centers.  The counselors can help you obtain special financing arrangements to help you avoid a home foreclosure.

You may be thinking, this sounds wonderful!  I really need help with my mortgage problems…but what about other financial problems and debts that I need help with too?  The VA counselors are also equipped to assist you in those areas!  To date VA counselors have helped save over 50 percent of homeowners from losing their homes through foreclosure.  By helping Veterans keep their homes and manage their financial situation, the government saves almost $1.5 billion dollars a year that would have been spent with the loans they had guaranteed for Veterans.

If you are a Veteran facing foreclosure and/or need help managing your finances through times of financial crises, don’t wait!  Call the VA toll-free number, 1-877-827-3702 to find the closest VA counselor for you.
