Marine Barracks Washington, also known as "8th & I," is the oldest active post in the Marine Corps and is situated on the corner of 8th and I roads, founding its name, only Southeast of Washington, D.C. The Barracks is home to many nationally recognized units, including the official Marine Corps Color Guard, the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, the Marine Group, the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, as well as the Marine Corps Body Bearers. Additionally it is the site of the House of the Commandants, which, alongside the Barracks, is a registered national historical landmark.
