New Hampshire, among the original 13 colonies, was the first state to get its own state constitution on June 21, 1788. Concord is the capital of New Hampshire. Its spirit of liberty is epitomized in the state slogan - "Live Free or Die".
New Hampshire was the 9th state to ratify the U.S. Constitution-the closing state needed to place the file into effect. It plays an essential part in national elections, as it's the initial state to carry national primaries, and its own primary results are believed to affect those in the remaining part of the country, giving rise to the saying "As New Hampshire goes, so goes the country".
It's the famous Mount Washington, among the windiest areas in the state as well as the site of the White Mountains.
