Texas Military Housing

Spanish missionaries were the first European settlers in Texas, founding San Antonio in 1718. Hostile natives and isolation from other Spanish colonies kept Texas sparsely populated until following the Revolutionary War and also the War of Mexican Independence, when the newly established Mexican authorities started to enable settlers from the U.S. to claim land there. This resulted in a population explosion, but drastically reduced the portion of the population with Mexican tradition, causing friction together with the authorities in Mexico City. After several insurrections that were smalle, the Texas Revolution broke out, as well as the state became an independent country in 1835. On the other hand, the recently formed Texas Republic was not able to protect itself from further incursions by Mexican troops, and eventually negotiated with the U.S. to join the union in 1845.

There are wonderful natural attractions, including hill country, beaches, deserts, and bountiful rivers and lakes. The weather remains warm to hot most of the year. Freezing temperatures can be reached by the winters but are generally short. There's a good deal to do outside in Texas, but be prepared with sunscreen, bug repellent, along with a refillable water bottle that is trusted.

Great Schools
If you're stationed in or around Austin or Dallas, you'll be happy to understand the top ten school systems in Texas are situated in these places. Top rated schools, though, could be found all through the state.
