Utah Military Housing

Utah became state on January 4, 1896. High plateaus, mountains and deserts form most of the landscape in Utah. At Four Corners, in the southeast, Utah and Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona at right angles, the only such assembly of states in the nation meet. Utah is famous for having a number of the best skiing in the nation, as well as the mountains near Salt Lake City receive a mean of 500 inches of snow annually. During the 19th century many Mormons settled in Utah, and about 60 percent of state's residents are members of the church now. Among the premier independent film festivals on the planet, the Sundance Film Festival, is held each January in Park City.

A military member assigned to the military base in Utah: U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), which lies in Utah's Great Salt Lake Desert, will reside at a premiere site for testing U.S. and allied biological and chemical weapon defense systems. Other than being large and important area to run evaluations, it also functions as a training base for multiple military divisions to prepare employees for deployments in war zones.

Housing and Accommodation
Newcomers delegated to Dugway Proving Grounds, have somewhere to stay on base. Temporary lodging can be found in the Desert Lodge. Since there's a high demand for on-post home, to secure a home, contact Army Family Housing ahead of time. For relocation assistance and/or to understand about what services are given on base, make sure you phone or stop by Army Community Services (in building 5124).

The ones that have kids will locate child care and after-school programs accessible on base. School-age kids can attend the Tooele County School District, which there's a high and elementary school found on base, but not a middle school; thus, the little one must go off base to Tooele Junior High.

Employment Opportunities
Military dependents or partners who follow the service member to Dugway Proving Grounds are likely to find non-appropriated fund (NAF) job opportunities and positions open in the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) on base.

For family entertainment, take a trip to at least one of the five national parks in Utah, which are: Zion and Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon. There's also the choice to visit the state's biggest zoo, the Hogle Zoo, which is located in Salt Lake City in Utah. In the winter season, there are a lot of ski areas.
